If you already have Dentures or just received new ones below lists important information you need to know:

Annual Maintenance Check

Full Dentures require an annual check and partial dentures require 6-month checks.  This service is to ensure a healthy mouth, keep bad breath at bay and maintain good oral health. Long term wear with-out a good cleaning and maintenance schedule may result in future health issues.

Denture Professionals send recall texts to their patients each year or 6 months, which-ever is required.  We encourage you to book your Maintenance check at this time by simply phoning our clinic and requesting a Maintenance appointment.

Care & Cleaning

  • Dentures require care and daily cleaning.
  • Do not brush your Dentures with abrasives such as toothpaste or use tooth brushes used for natural teeth or nail brushes.
  • Only use the specific Dental Brush we provide, combined with Denture specific cleaners. Denture brushes have been designed to not spin in your hand and to clean in the deep parts of your denture that tooth brushes and nail brushes can’t reach.
  • Follow the instructions of Denture cleaners carefully.

Warnings:

  • When cleaning Dentures, fill wash basin with water so in the event you dop the Denture the water absorb the impact, preventing chips or breaks.
  • Do not brush your Dentures in the shower, many dentures have been broken in the shower.
  • Do not leave your Dentures were young children or pets can get to them.
  • Do not use brushes, solvents or cleaners NOT DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR DENTURES.

Important:

Over time, age and long-term denture wear will cause your gums and bones to recede, usually causing your dentures to become loose.   As the dentures loosen, it will no longer fit the shape of your mouth, this in turn causes more wear to bone, and jaw.  Also, the muscles of the mouth, face and tongue may change to cope.   The stress to the Denture eventually will cause the loose dentures to BREAK.  Once this occurs, it compromises the Denture structure, creating microscopic hairline fractures, invisible to the eye.

The longer you wear an ill-fitting denture, the more damage will be done to structure of your mouth and face, creating further issues for the construction and fitting of your future dentures.

Therefore, if your dentures become loose, please do not delay; have your dentures checked by our Dental Prosthetists by booking a Consult at Denture Professionals Rockingham

Immediate Dentures

If you have had teeth removed and a Denture fitted immediately after that it’s an Immediate Denture.

It is important you understand further treatment is necessary.

As your tooth sockets, bone and soft tissue heal, and the swelling settles, it changes shape of the underlying supportive bone and tissue that the denture is placed on.  This will require at first a “Tissue Conditioner” to be added to the denture while the healing continues.  At around 3 to 6 months after removal of the teeth, a “Reline” will be needed, to create a better fit to the denture. Again, at around 12 months another reline may be necessary.  Your mouth is living tissue, muscles and bone with a combined with a very active tongue, means constant changes which needs regular maintenance.  Failure to maintain the denture will most likely result in regular broken Dentures.

Denture Repairs – same day.

All Denture Repairs can be completed same day.  Simply bring your Dentures into Denture Professionals, preferably in the morning, and they will be ready for pick up in a couple of hours depending on work load.   We treat all denture repairs as emergency treatment and will always get them back to you as fast as possible.  After hours repairs (After work hours or Weekends) will attract a call out fee.

When your denture breaks and you bring it in for repair, we fix the break.  The cause of the break remains, and if you do not take the advice given by our staff, and do not take measures to correct the cause of the break, the denture will break again.  If this happens you will pay for another repair.

Thank you again for taking the time to read this important information  and we look forward to assisting you with your ongoing Denture requirements.
